Mt Owen is a contractor mining operation and is currently operated by Thiess Pty Ltd under a partnering agreement with Xstrata Mt Owen. Mt Owen employs over 500 full time employees and has a large number of contractors working on site. Glendell is owned and operated by Xstrata Coal and employs approximately 230 full time employees and is also supported by a large amount of contractors. The highest proportion of employees live in Singleton, followed by Muswellbrook and Maitland.
